In the opening hours of Operation Just Cause in the Republic of
Panama, Sergeant William Gibbs was killed in action.
It was a few days before Christmas 1989 and he left behind
a young wife and an infant daughter. The sacrifice of
SGT Gibbs and thousands of patriots like him throughout
the years inspired the founding of the Children of Fallen
Patriots Foundation.
Our mission is to provide college scholarships and educational
counseling to the children of military personnel who have been
killed in combat or training. Every year hundreds of service men
and women are killed in training accidents and many more
have given their lives in the continuing War on Terror and other
combat operations. Like the Minutemen who first won our country's
freedom, the members of today's Armed Forces volunteer to put
themselves in harm's way on our behalf.
Along with grateful Americans everywhere, the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation hopes to share the blessings bestowed upon us by our fallen service men and women with the families they have left behind. Our goal is to ensure that no child who has lost a parent in the line of duty has to pay for college.

The Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is dedicated to providing college scholarships and educational counseling to the children of military personnel who are killed in the line of duty.
Our goal is to bridge the gap in funding between available sources of grants and scholarships (i.e., VA Chapter 35, federal, state, local and private grants) and the total cost of college.
We hope to ensure that no child covered by our mission had to go out-of-pocket or take on loans to pay for college. |
