A Virginia-based organization that helps the children of fallen troops is seeking applicants for college scholarships.
The Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is seeking qualified incoming freshmen for the 2017-18 academic year.
The organization provides scholarship assistance to military children whose parents died while on duty and estimates it will provide more than 100 scholarships this year.

Officials said there are an estimated 20,000 children who have lost a parent serving in the military while on duty in the past 35 years. The Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation provides scholarships, educational counseling and other resources.
