Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation Partner with the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund to Assist More Children
Jacksonville Beach, FL – Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is proud to announce a new partnership with the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund (JMSF), a fund with very similar goals to that of Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation. The Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund raises money in memory of Colonel John McHugh, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2010 when his convoy was attacked by a suicide bomber. Originally intended to take care of the educational needs of John's children, the Fund's mission reflects the wider goal of honoring the service and sacrifice of all veterans and their families. They will disperse their funds to military-related charities that share their goal of financially assisting veterans and family members that wish to further their education. “We are honored and grateful for the opportunity to work with the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund,” explains John Coogan, Executive Director, Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation. “Our partnership will significantly increase our ability to serve military families and it will also serve as a model for the industry of innovative collaboration.
Colonel John McHugh is survived by five children, two of which are already Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation scholarship recipients. Kelly McHugh graduated from Kansas State University with a Journalism & Mass Communications Degree, while Kristen McHugh is currently a sophomore at Liberty University, studying Psychology & Christian Counseling.
"It is a privilege to work on the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund team to help 'Our Own' and to honor the memory and spirit of our fallen West Point classmate John McHugh,” says MaryEllen Picciuto, President of the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund. “JMSF will invest only in programs in which more than 90% of funds raised go directly to veterans and their families. We are thrilled to partner with the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation where 100% of our contributions will go toward the education of children of service members. Our missions and values align very well."
The mission of the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund is to help veterans and their family members through education. The Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund was organized by a group of classmates from West Point's Class of 1986, who were inspired to give back to those who have given so much.
