Art Sales Fund Scholarships at Artists Incorporated "America the Beautiful" Event

Supporting scholarships for children of fallen military, Vestavia Hills' Artists Incorporated Gallery is donating a portion of proceeds from their second annual "America the Beautiful" exhibition July 10-11, 2015 to Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation. Jerome Vason of Artists Incorporated and Janina Taylor, whose husband Sgt. Christopher Taylor was killed in Iraq, shared about this special event with Talk of Alabama.

Over 50 artists share their pieces at Artists Incorporated Gallery, allowing for a diverse display of work, ranging from traditional paintings to mixed-media sculpture. The work for this particular showing celebrates beauty and patriotism, and strives to benefit military families.

Jerome Vason, a retired veteran whose work will be on display and up for sale at the event, sees art as not only a means of expression and pride, but also as a way of helping others.

"We really want to give back to our military families and veterans," Vason said.

Last year's event supported Wounded Warriors Project, and the gallery sought to continue making an impact in the lives of families affected by sacrifice in military service this year by donating a portion of proceeds to Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation. Janina Taylor will be attending the two day event representing the families served by Fallen Patriots. You can view the full interview starting at 2:58 in the video below.

Taylor, along with two of her children, lost their husband and father in July 2005 while he was serving in Iraq. Though Taylor's children are young yet, she has already experienced the benefits of being connected to a resource like Fallen Patriots that provides scholarships and educational counseling.

"Fallen soldiers have given us their ultimate sacrifice for our country," shared Taylor.

"In return, the children get to have the benefits of getting the education needed to move forward in the future with a promising outlook."

Donations will be made from proceeds of art sales, but patrons are also invited to make a direct donation at the event or online at www.fallenpatriots.org.
