MANCHESTER, N.H. — Gov. Chris Sununu and Manchester Mayor Joyce Craig declared May 13 Children of Fallen Patriots Day in New Hampshire on Monday.
The Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation provides scholarships to the children of those killed serving the country.
The organization's founders hope it raises awareness about the help available for families who have lost a loved one in the line of service.
“They're going through so much trauma and so much tragedy at that time, and if we can take that one burden off of them, it makes the world of difference,” said NH chairman Jay Lucas. “We actually change lives. We change lives of these kids, and so far, we've helped just over 1,150 kids."
