Alexis is the daughter of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Edwardo L., who passed away in Afghanistan in 2010. When asked what her father’s service means to her, Alexis says, “His service and sacrifice means everything to me. Growing up with both parents in the military, I know the military child life all too well. I'm so proud to have grown up the way I did and will continue to share the stories of my parents.”

With the help of Children of Fallen Patriots, Alexis graduated debt-free from Ohio University with a degree in Community and Public Health in 2019. After graduating with her Bachelor’s degree, she pursued her MBA at the Florida Institute of Technology, where she graduated in 2021. In 2022, Alexis joined the Children of Fallen Patriots team as a Scholarship Administrator, where she assists students that have been in similar situations as her.

“Receiving scholarships from Children of Fallen Patriots impacted my life tremendously. I was able to attend the school I wanted and receive a bachelor’s degree in community and public health. They not only provided financial assistance, but I was also able to meet and become friends with other students in my same position. I'm so thankful for Children of Fallen Patriots!”

There are approximately 25,000 children who have lost a parent in the line of duty over the past 35 years. The vision of Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation is to ensure that every such child receives all necessary college funding.
