At only 15 years old, Kylie O. received the disheartening news of her father’s death. National Guard Staff Sergeant Kirk O. lost his life while on deployment in Afghanistan. Kylie and her dad shared a love of basketball and big dreams. They’d lose track of time shooting hoops at the local park. When her dad died the game stopped.

 “Basketball just wasn’t fun anymore!”

She knew it was time to chase new dreams and Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation was there to serve her just as her father had served. She is now finishing her first year at the University of Arkansas, majoring in International Studies. Without assistance from Fallen Patriots, Kylie says she probably wouldn’t have been able to afford a big university and would have enrolled in community college.

Kylie will hold the memories of her father and the wisdom he provided her with close to her heart. She plans to serve her country too and hopes to work in the political science field.
